And so it begins

Although this blog started out as a journal of my experience with fashion, that theme died off rather quickly. Then, inspired by my cousin, I decided to make it a travel blog. That was two months ago, back in November. Well, it's about time I start writing about my travel adventures, or more specifically, my adventure with Swap. In a nutshell, Swap is a program that helps Canadians get a visa that will allow them to work abroad, giving them help and tips before and after they arrive in the country of their choice. My pick: Ireland. The green fields, the friendly people, to old towns, the castles... Even the constant rain is not enough to discourage me from going. My (estimated) departure date: May 15th of this year. Which, as everyone keeps reminding me, is arriving quickly. But seeing as I began my research back in November, I'm not too worried.

After choosing my destination, the next step would be to apply for Swap. I was ready to do this about now, only I received a very exciting email from Swap letting me know that the Irish visa, instead of lasting one year, was now going to last TWO years. Which means I have to wait until February before I can apply, as they are still setting up the details. Needless to say, I'm feeling rather unproductive at the moment. All my next steps require me to have applied for Swap before I do them, so there's not much for me to do now but wait. Well, that's not entirely true. I do keep an eye on the price of plane tickets, which allowed me to discover that I could very well afford a first class ticket to Dublin. As my dad said, the looks I will get from the businessmen sitting in the same section as me is well worth the price difference. Oh, that and the leg room. And did I mention the seats are bigger? Bliss.

(Approximate) Number of days to go: 113
